Have you ever looked for a workout that got your heart racing like good cardio should but also lengthened and strengthened you? Look no further! We’ve got the answer for you!
Barre classes target every muscle group. And unlike other full-body workouts, the micromovements that are incorporated also work the smaller muscles that can missed when only utilizing bigger movements.
We all know that tightness in our muscles can lead to various pains and can make everyday tasks harder to do. But the stretching involved in barre classes can reduce that tension and increase flexibility and range of motion for anyone who participates.
Barre workouts are also low-impact. That means they’re gentler on the joints than other workouts out there, plus there’s a lower risk of injury. If you do have areas that are a bit tweaky or prone to injury in general, most of the moves can be adjusted or modified to fit your needs. It’s even safe for pregnant women!
Best of all - while barre classes are based on ballet, you don’t need to be a prima ballerina to participate! No prior dance experience is required, and no special get up or gear is needed. You only need to show up ready to move, and let our instructors know if there’s an area of your body that need special attention.
At First Wind, we offer a couple different styles of barre classes. Of course, we offer traditional barre classes which combine elements of Pilates, dance, and yoga. This type of class will help you increase flexibility and build lean muscle. Our instructors are great at suggesting modifications, making these classes great for all fitness levels. We also offer Ride to the Barre classes. These offer an invigorating mash-up workout where half of your time is spent in a cycling class called The Ride and half your time is spent at the barre lengthening, strengthening, and toning.
