Are you curious about spin classes but are a little intimidated? At First Wind, you don’t have to be!
Spin classes are an excellent way for everyone to get in shape! They are done on bikes with adjustable tensions, so you can change up your workout to fit your fitness level and your workout goals as needed. It’s all about you and your comfort level and ability, not competing with the person on the neighboring bike. Not sure where you need to be? Our instructors are happy to help!
In addition, cycling classes are considered a low impact exercise, meaning it won't put excess pressure on knees and joints like other aerobic exercises do. This is a huge consideration for folks with arthritis and those who have suffered knee and hip injuries, so we’re happy to offer workouts that can fit these needs. Due to its lower impact on the body, a spinning class is also less likely to cause injuries than other types of exercise like running and jogging. Plus, in addition to working your legs and glutes, indoor cycling classes work your core and abdominal muscles, so you get an almost full-body workout!
Studios like ours also take the weather out as a factor in whether you’ll work out. One draw of “regular” cycling to some is the beauty of being outdoors. But if it’s rainy, cold, snowy, hot or otherwise nasty outside, that beauty is lost. Here, you can ride no matter what the weather’s like.
At First Wind Cycling & Fitness, our goal is to offer a fun and unique cycle workout in an inclusive space where everyone is welcome. This means that if you are a beginner, we want you to feel at home to ask questions and to feel that you are the best you at all times. All of our classes are multi-level classes, which accommodate beginners through advanced riders that are at the top of their game. Everyone will be pushed to their own max to keep climbing that hill.
Not to toot our own horn, but the spin classes at our South End studio are different from any other indoor cycling classes/spin classes in Charlotte. Ours are led on RealRyder Indoor Cycles that tilt and lean giving a similar sensation to that of an outdoor bike, allowing you to achieve a full body workout and burn 20% more calories than you would in a traditional indoor cycling class.
